Welcome to our new hand building and mixed media course! In this course we will explore hand building ceramics, finished with additional materials to create a range of unique pieces. We have a range of options within this course to cater to everyone!
Our courses are designed for all levels, including absolute beginners, to someone more experienced that wants to continue their ceramic journey, building upon existing skills and exploring project based concepts supported by your teacher.
For beginners, we will cover an introduction to the ceramic process including techniques such as pinching, coiling and slab work.
We will explore candle making and weaving, as well as incorporating driftwood/crystals/rocks into our pieces if you choose. You will be guided along the design and creation process to create a body of work.
Program schedule:
Week 1: 2/5 Ceramics - Candle holder/Candelabra
Week 2: 9/5 Ceramics - Bowl/vase with holes to include weaving
Week 3: 16/5 Ceramics - One piece dinner set (bowl, side plate, dinner plate)
Week 4: 23/5 Ceramics - Pair of mugs including sgraffito
Week 5: 30/5 Glazing
Week 6: 6/6 Candle making
Week 7: 13/6 Weaving and incorporating additional materials
Week 8: 20/6 Cacao ceremony and finish pieces as necessary

8 week course - $525
Ceramics only - Week 1-4 - $295

Nitty Gritty…
*included in the price is the bisque and glaze firing of 2-8 pieces (depending on course and size). Any additional pieces can be fired for an additional $15/kg
*Up to 10kg of clay is included in the course (any additional can be purchased for $3/kg)
*if you can’t make one of the classes we will try very hard to fit you in at a different time but can’t always guarantee it. We are also happy for you to send someone in your place.
